Companies are bolting AI onto everything, and the bill comes due: token costs, latency, and output nobody can fully trust. Used well, AI is a sharp tool. The skill is knowing exactly where it belongs, and where a deterministic system does the job better, cheaper, and more reliably.

How we build

Foundation first. A system is only as good as its foundation, and the foundation is data. We build bottom-up: get the data right, and everything above it holds.

Deterministic by default. Proven, hard-coded systems handle the structured, repeatable work: fast, predictable, effectively free to run.

AI where it earns it. AI is reserved for the genuine edge cases where it measurably outperforms, applied on a return basis, never as the default.

Validated, always. Every result is checked against deterministic logic. Trust is built into the system, not assumed.

Built to last. Building software isn’t the bottleneck anymore. Shipping something that survives real use is. Fast to ship, sturdy under load, secure by inspection, and owned by you rather than rented.

The speedy tortoise. Slow and steady wins the race. Fast and steady wins it sooner. SaaS made sense when building software was slow and expensive: one generic tool rented by everyone. Building is fast now. The risk isn’t speed, it’s shipping something flimsy at speed. So: fast, sturdy, secure, and yours.

Who this is for

The fit isn’t an industry. It’s a mindset: people who’ve outgrown the spreadsheets and duct-taped tools, who see software as an advantage rather than an expense, and who can decide without it vanishing into a committee. You don’t need it all figured out. Often the real work is finding the problem worth solving. Workflows rather than industries.

TGIM

When the busywork and the friction are gone, Monday stops being something to dread. That’s the real measure of an engagement: software that makes you, and your team, glad to get to work.

Why Rebar

Too much of people’s time goes to mindless, automatable work, and every hour of it is stolen from the work they’re good at and care about. So that’s what we build toward.

The name

re·bar: the steel set inside concrete, unseen, load-bearing, the reason the structure holds.
